Tennis

We hope you have noticed that our Club’s name is Balboa Ski and Sports Club. One of those SPORTS is TENNIS! We started Tennis as a way to keep in ski shape during the off-season, and it has now expanded to about 8 months, April to November.

We have monthly mixers and Sunday morning tennis. Note that we do follow the current COVID rules for social distancing on the courts and we have sanitizer available at all times. Tennis is a healthy outdoor sport and we hope that you will be able to join us. Contact our Director of Tennis (see below), to reserve your spot and get on our monthly email list. Here is some additional information about our tennis activities:

THE BALBOA TENNIS PROGRAM IS AN ACTIVE GROUP OF 20-25 TENNIS PLAYERS OF ALL LEVELS AND AGES. THE TENNIS GROUP ORGANIZES THESE ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR:

1. Weekly free tennis at San Joachin Park in Newport Beach on Sunday mornings from roughly 9:30 to 11:00. Usually there are 1-2 courts of players at all levels and we play year round. This is a self-run group, just show up, introduce yourself, and join in.

2. Monthly tennis mixers in the summer (usually April to November) at Costa Mesa Tennis Center. These are usually mixed doubles in a round robin format. Play usually takes place on the third Sunday of each month and we try to have 3-4 courts of different levels. There is a charge for the courts and guests are always welcome (guests pay a small surcharge). Tennis starts at 1:00 pm(check in at 12:30 pm) and is followed by food and other refreshments at a local restaurant.

Please plan to come and join us, but you do need to sign up ahead of time so that we can ensure that we can reserve the proper number of courts. Please plan to join us! Contact Terry King, Director of Tennis to get your name on her email lists: terrykay617@hotmail.com.  Ski club members also receive an email the week before the mixer.

Note: We would like to add Pickleball to our Sports, and we are currently looking for a volunteer leader to organize similar gatherings. If you are interested, please contact Terry King.

All tennis participants need to fill out a liability form for each mixer.
